John McCain – senator and former presidential candidate, dies at 81…

John McCain from Arizona, a fighter pilot, prisoner of war and both an independent voice in the Republican Party and 2008 presidential nominee, died on Saturday, a year after he was diagnose with brain cancer. He was 81.

McCain’s office said in a statement  “Senator John Sidney McCain III died at 4:28 p.m. on August 25, 2018.” On July 19, 2017, he announced that he had been diagnosed with a glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain tumor. On Friday his family announced he was discontinuing treatment.

At the same statement McCain’s office said: “With the Senator when he passed were his wife Cindy and their family. At his death, he had served the United States of America faithfully for sixty years,”

Meghan McCain, his Daughter, said in a Tweet: ” I Love you forever – my beloved Father… My Father, United Stated Senator John Sidney McCain, departed this life today… I was with my father at his end, as he was with me at my beginning.”

McCain’s wife, Cindy McCain, tweeted: “My heart is broken. I am so lucky to have lived the adventure of loving this incredible man for 38 years. He passed the way he lived, on his own terms, surrounded by the people he loved.” She said he died in “the place he loved best.”
