EU suspends arms exports to Turkey…

by alex

EU foreign ministers and member states, in response to Ankara’s illegal invasion into northern Syria, pledged to suspend weapons exports to Turkey, but stopped short of implementing a formal EU-wide arms embargo.

At the same meeting today in Luxembourg, EU foreign ministers also agreed to prepare a list of potential sanctions over Turkey’s drilling activities off Cyprus.

At the EU’s statement, foreign ministers and member states condemned Turkey’s military operation in Syria and committed to

“strong national positions regarding their arms export policy to Turkey.”
