BREAKING NEW – White House: Top Health Officials Enter Self-Quarantine – Including Dr. Fauci

Three members of the White House’s COVID-19 task force, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, placed themselves in quarantine after contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases,, Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, Stephen Hahn, and the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Robert Redfield, have decided to self-quarantine for two weeks.

Officials will not identify the person to whom Hahn or Redfield were exposed. However, the press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence, Katie Miller, tested positive on Friday. She is known to often be in the White House COVID 19 task force meetings.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, was tested negative for coronavirus and will continue to be tested regularly. He is considered at “relatively low risk” based on the degree of his exposure, and he would be “taking appropriate precautions” to mitigate the risk to personal contacts while still carrying out his duties. While he will stay at home and telework, Fauci will go to the White House if called and take every precaution.

Stephen Hahn the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, according to Stephanie Caccomo, the FDA spokesperson. in an internal message to staff on Friday Hahn announced his decision to self-quarantine.

Stephanie Caccomo in a statement on Saturday said: “The commissioner immediately took a diagnostic test and tested negative for the virus,”

Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Saturday confirmed to The Washington Post his decision to place himself in quarantine after his “low-risk” exposure to “a person at the White House who has COVID-19,” but has shown no symptoms.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is expected to testify next week at a Senate hearing about the COVID 19 . Though, Dr. Fauci is expected to attend the Senate hearing while wearing a mask, a source in Alexander’s office told CNN. If circumstances change and Fauci needs to testify by video conference, the committee will accommodate that due to the unusual circumstances.

In a statement, Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tennessee, said that NPR hasn’t confirmed Fauci’s plan for when and how he’s expected to testify before the Senate

Robert Redfield and Stephen Hahn will testify before a Senate committee on Tuesday as well by video conference. The committee’s chairman, Sen. Lamar Alexander, confirmed that on Saturday.
